Back!

Postby DarkWaltz on Sun Jul 13, 2008 6:49 pm

Hello all, I'm back! We had a very nice trip; we saw tons of animals! Grizzlies (a mom with her cubs on the side of the road one day!), black bears (four in one day at one point!), bison, mosquitoes, elk, mule deer, ravens, ground squirrels, humpback whales, bald eagles, mountain goats, a reindeer, mosquitoes, Dall sheep, huge magpies, moose (including a calf!), and mosquitoes. By the way, the mosquitoes in the Yukon have fur collars. No joke, they look fuzzy. And they're bigger than normal. *shudder* Ick.
Some other cool things:went fishing and got 19 fish in one day, we saw Kennicott Mill, where the amazingly good quality copper from the mine there was processed, we drove all the roads into Wrangell-St. Elias National Park (there are two roads), we took the ferry down to Bellingham on the way back and stopped in Seattle to see some friends, we saw the 4th of July parade in Juneau (the capital) and saw the governor of Alaska, we stayed in Deer Lodge in Banff National Park one night (the rest were spent in a little pop-up, over-cab camper or on the ferry), we walked on the Athabasca and Worthington Glaciers, and we hiked up a two mile trail that was uphill the whole way with no flat spots, and had tea at the teahouse up there and looked at the glacier.

Anyway, it's nice to see you all again! :)

WELCOME BACK!!!

Sounds like you had awesome fun! (I saw a Canada/Alaska tour the other day for, I think it was $6000 - and I wanted to go!)

And I have one further word to add...

PICTURES???
A common misconception is that dragons hoard gold. This is half true. Dragons have an unusual sense of value and will actually hoard *anything* they get their claws on. This could be gold coins, or any coins, cds, and other shiny things, through to toys, plushies and oddly shaped leaves, colourful stones and fancy international bottlecaps.

Gathering of the Figments shall be offline from May 1st for about 1-2 weeks. Email me if you would like further details.

Thanks everyone! :) I'm glad to be back.

And Pommie, I will get pictures up as soon as I can, but my camera was broken so the pictures are on my parents' cameras, so it may take a little bit...

You know what? I was just camping for six days. And it rained every single day. Mosquitoes like wet. I can empathize. Heavily.

But I'm glad you had fun. I hear it's quite beautiful up there.
