Children of the Darkness

Observations: I need to revive my creative juices. Also Apoc mentioned we needed to revive this bored. So I put one and one together and got three. Then I got confused. Then I stopped caring and got back to the point by making this.
--
Purpose: It's an alternate history piece during the times similar to our 1920's - 1940's (back in the days of Prohibition and mafia hits in other words). Not necessarily noir mind you, but a la that time frame. No particular plot details are forced, just go with the flow. As always with things I do, the breaking of genre boundaries is fine if not encouraged.
--
Hypothesis: Wait, what?
--
Character: Jacques Quitterie aka The Salesman
Age: ?
Height: 5" 10'
Occupation: ?
Description: Brown haired and brown-eyed. Jacques has an average build and a strong accent. He often wears a suit.
Background: Little is known about Jacques. He appears to have been born in a French suburb under the English rule, and has moved to the American Corporate States in the recent years.
--
Entry:
Jacques turned down the radio that had been blasting "Why Don't You Do Right?", covering up their previous conversation. He put on his coat and lit a cigarette. "Pleasure doing business with you." Jacques left closing the door behind him.

Character: Archibald Hicks
Age: Unknown - somewhere between 45 and 55, but could be older.
Height: Exact height unknown - is always sitting down, but appears short.
Occupation: Has a job somwhere, though no one knows exactly what he does, or where for that matter.
Description: Short black hair and piercing blue eyes. Fairly powerful looking, disabled and wheelchair bound. Usually seen sitting on a black leather wheeled office chair.
Background: Little is known of Archibald, but he has contacts with many powerful people. His accent suggests an origin in the UK, but he had never discussed his past with anyone - except his cat, who he often speaks to when alone.

*****

Archibald spun around on his chair to look out the window. Reaching out with one arm he turned the radio back on, with his other arm he picked up his cat and placed her on his lap, stroking her soft fur gently. Out the window he watched as Jacques got into his car.
"We have a lot to think about, Whiskers," he said to his cat. There was a knock at the door, and Archibald turned again as Jacques car drove away.
A common misconception is that dragons hoard gold. This is half true. Dragons have an unusual sense of value and will actually hoard *anything* they get their claws on. This could be gold coins, or any coins, cds, and other shiny things, through to toys, plushies and oddly shaped leaves, colourful stones and fancy international bottlecaps.

Gathering of the Figments shall be offline from May 1st for about 1-2 weeks. Email me if you would like further details.

Jacques drove for ten minutes and finally reached the park. The Lady in Red would be waiting for him there. Pulling the package from under his car seat, he got out to walk to the park bench and started to read a newspaper.
The Lady in Red arrived shortly after. She sat next to him and placed an envelope between the two of them. "The weather is nice for growing wheat, non?" he asked.
"Oh quite, in fact my crop will be for sale in the Farmer's Market next to the honey," her thick German accent responded.
"I'll be sure to buy some." Jacques then looked at his watch, folded his newspaper, and left, dropping his spent cigarette while picking up the envelope. She picked it up casually and retrieved its contents.
In the car, Jacques counted the money. Fifty gold pieces, just as they had agreed upon. "Time to hunt some salauds."
