"Why are you following me?" I tried to scream. It came out a whisper. But the man backed off suddenly.
"You alright, honey?" he asked me concernedly. I just stared at him in utter horror, instictively pulling away to the opposite side of the bed. I heard an annoying mewling sound. I only realized it was me when I gasped for breath and the sound stopped for a moment. I couldn't take my eyes off the man in front of me.
As I stared, I realized that I had been mistaken yet again. The man in front of me, the doctor, looked frighteningly similar to my personal terrorizing ghost, but his eyes were a normal, pale blue, and his chin was almost square, unlike the man I'd seen all day.
"I'm fine," I gasped, waving at him weakly. Another person who thinks I'm mad, no doubt, I grumbled to myself. There were getting to be too many of those. Maybe I was mad... "There was a man," I continued in a slightly stronger voice. "He's been following me all day, staring at me with his creepy eyes that look more like black holes than eyes, I swear, but every time I got near him he disappeared! He looks exactly like you only with creepy eyes and a round chin." The doctor looked at me for a moment.
"It's alright, there's no one following you," he said soothingly. "You've been in an accident, no doubt you'll be a little discombobulated for a while. Just relax."
I ground my teeth in frustration.
