Disease Ridden

Ok, so you may have read about this one in FigNo, if not, SHAME ON YOU!

...

Nah, it's ok, I still love you. But excuse me if I borrow from my own post...

...inspired by Doctor Who... That New New Earth one... DT's second ep, Lady Cassandra's second appearance...
Ok, well the story is about a girl who was raised diseased in a pod, and kept there for them to develop their antidotes... She never knew the feeling of a hug, or love, or any of those things... And then she is released... I am thinking that they socialised them, and then adopted them out in groups, kinda like a foster thing... Where they go to school and live with a normal family... And yeah, about the trials that face her, and the after affects, and not being accepted, and maybe a disease breaks out and they are immune or something, and they are blamed... The details are sketchy, but I am kinda excited about the thing...

Ok, so is there anything you guys can offer up as to what happens to them in the "real" world... And also, how do you think it came about that they were discovered and released? Any ideas? (I don't want to TOTALLY plagiarize The Doctor..) Any suggestions will be much appreciated... I think this might be my FigNo project...

Tah muchly m'dears!

Maybe they were part of some big project, and then they forgot about it, and they were just stuck there. Then somehow the diseased people get out, because somebody found some old sketches of the project, so they go to find the diseased people?...

Maybe there's this crazy fanatic group who devote their lives trying to stop things like what's happening to the diseased people. Perhaps they think this 'experiment' that the scientists are doing is on real people or something and they want to stop it. So they send someone in, undercover, and he learns what's really happening and gets tapes, pictures, audio. That kind of thing. He gets out and puts all the proof as a big story on the news, so the scientists have to set the diseased free. (For lack of a better name, love)

All my ideas think way to far ahead into the romance area. Sorry. I can't help it. Your main character is going to be female, right. When she gets released into 'society' and begins to learn all human emotions and feelings, what if the undercover guy comes in and tries to help her because he is part of that group that tries to help. But he gets attached to her and her to him. :P Just a sub-plot.

As for what might happen when she gets released. Most effects will be due to her age. How old is your character supposed to be? Cause adults treat adults different and teenagers treat teenagers different. So an age would help me think of what might happen to her while she's in society.

Maybe for the older diseased, adult aged, they are treated unfairly because they've had a long life but no schooling so they have to be cared for more than the younger ones. Maybe this makes other adults jealous because the diseased adults get to have easier jobs to help them get by and they also get homes provided for them and schooling paid for. That sort of thing.

For teenagers it's different since they are not adults yet. They get to start school and have a few years to learn what will takes the adults longer to learn. Because the teenagers are what they are they're also teased and made fun of by other kids.

For young children they'll have it easiest, I'm sure they'd still be picked on but the longer they have to learn the easier it will be for them in the future.

You say maybe you want a disease to break out. Perhaps the scientists are trying to find different ways to cure diseases now that they can't have the test tube people anymore. What if they create a virus but the virus can't be contained and it begins to spread. Instead of accepting blame for creating the virus they somehow make it seem like it was the diseased who do it. Like because of all the tests done on them they somehow emit this virus. There is not much people can do though because the virius is bad and only the diseased are immune to it. So many of the diseased get together, those who are overly-intelligent, and they try to find a cure for the virus and end up saving the day.

In the end the scientist admit to their fault and they're shut down completely. :D

Those are the first things that popped into my head, maybe I'll have more later. You never know.

Lol thanks Hawky. I was kinda thinking more along the lines of them being released by activists or something. Still a good idea though!

Thanks trin, there are so many good ideas there! I feel even more anxious to write it now... I think that when the disease starts to spread, the normals might start riots and lock the diseased up... And so my MC and the investigator might be separated and stuff for a while, and confused as to the whole situation...

Thanks guys!

I'd also suggest exploring how difficult it would be for your character to suddenly be dumped into normal life. She's never even been TOUCHED, and now there are people all around, people laughing and hugging and kissing and she's not used to any of it. I imagine it would be quite a trial, and it'd be interesting to see some of your take on it and watch the character learn to cope in a normal setting.

I want to read more about the Boomer Line, I liked that. And Conflicting Realities. And Wolves Curse. And those other dragon-y type stories that pommie's writing.

It doesn't take much to amuse me--as you may have guessed--I played with a padlock for an hour this morning. :/

Lol Hawky, Maybe I will write and post some more of The Boomer Line in the future. But Disease Ridden and The Boomer Line are two totally different stories... I seriously couldn't see any way to link the two... They are very different TYPES of stories...

Boomer Line is a post apocalyptic thing, about the train tracks, and the legend behind them and stuff, and a relatively normal character in a strange situation...

Disease Ridden is a utopia/dystopia thing, with a character who is separate from society, in a strange situation, and all that stuff...

VERY different.

But don't worry. Both will be written at some stage...
