I have a question when using speech in writing cause I've seen people do things differently. One way is this way:

"Hey, that new store is open," Jacob said. "Should we go by tomorrow?"

Then I've seen them do this.

"Hey, that new store is open," Jacbo said, "should we go by tomorrow?"

Is there a correct way to do this or do people do them different depending on how they were taught? If anyone could let me know that'd be great!

Well Jacob, obviously prefers his periods, but as a comma man myself, I have to side with Jacbo. Plus Jacbo has a better name.
Really I think this is how the rule goes.
Hey, that new store is open. Should we go by tomorrow?
The break in the quotes is at the period, so Jacob is right.
Hey, since that new store is open, should we go by tomorrow?
The break in the quotes is at the comma, so Jacbo forgot a word.

"Hey, commas are so much cooler than periods," Comma Man said, "so we should use the second one as much as possible."

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I never really thought there was a right way, it mattered on how the sentence went, like Grey Dawn said. :/

Yeah, that's what I figured. English isn't much like Spanish where they start questions in the middle of sentences.

I like Chinese. They don't really use commas. Well, they do, when they're writing, but since it's a tonal language, you can't really change the inflection(sp? Malaprop?) without changing the meaning. :/

Haha, I know. One of my friends was taking Chinese this past year in school and was complaining how one word can have, like, ten different meanings.

Well, yeah, the word 'shi' means is, yes, a, appointment, and that's not even all the meanings. And of course, you could always confuse it with 'si', which means, four, death, and a couple other things. XD By the way, just wanted to point out...if you're ever in China and need a phone book, DON'T ask for a 'yellow book'. You won't get a phone book. DX

I shall keep that in note, but can we get back to the original question?
A common misconception is that dragons hoard gold. This is half true. Dragons have an unusual sense of value and will actually hoard *anything* they get their claws on. This could be gold coins, or any coins, cds, and other shiny things, through to toys, plushies and oddly shaped leaves, colourful stones and fancy international bottlecaps.
