My first try at an actual all around fantasy

Postby Trinity on Wed Aug 06, 2008 7:09 am

So I've had this idea for a while now but there are a few specifics about it that are bugging me. I'm more of a Sci-Fi person. I love technology and aliens and things like that. :P But I really like fantasy I just don't know if I write it as well as I write Sci-Fi.

The main thing bothering me is what I've named all the places in the world I've created. Particularly Diamond. Does a place named Diamond with diamond-ish names makes sense?

Here's a map of my world, drawn and created by me. It's not very fancy, it was done with paint but go easy on it(the guest password is shadoe1, if is asks):

So, just give it to me straight. What do you think of the whole world? (which I still don't have a name for yet, I'm working on it)

Right now the world is what's bothering me. Once that's cleared up I'll ask you questions about my absurb plot. -shakes hand at plot-

Just so you know each place, a.k.a. Ruby Skies, Pouring Waters, Sea of Memory, ect. Have something special about them, they're not just a place. Ruby Skies is elevated so high that the people who live there live among the clouds. In Pouring Waters it never stops raining......I think you get the picture.

Do you think this place could qualify as a real world? Does it makes sense to you?

As a fantasy world, sure!

I like the Bridge of Pain
A common misconception is that dragons hoard gold. This is half true. Dragons have an unusual sense of value and will actually hoard *anything* they get their claws on. This could be gold coins, or any coins, cds, and other shiny things, through to toys, plushies and oddly shaped leaves, colourful stones and fancy international bottlecaps.

I love the potential of the sea of Memory...

Sounds good Trin! Can't wait to nut it out with you when my comp is working again!

There are a couple that you might have problems with (like Glimmer, the Spyro game Gateway to Glimmer, the first world was called...well, yeah.) but it's realistic for a fantasy world. I mean...it's fantasy. You'd have to screw up pretty badly to make an unrealistic fantasy world.

It's still a work in progress so there's definite room for name changes.

I've never heard of that Spyro game but it figures considering I really liked Glimmer. :P

Looks good, and I basically agree with everyone here. The one thing, I think, is that Vortex Village is freaking huge to be called a village. but that's basically it. ;)
Well.. and that the amethyst is black, but that doesn't count, d:

good job. Maps are hard on paint.
